RSE-SEE10 Conference Brought Together Electrochemists from 24 Countries in Prague
The 10th Regional Symposium on Electrochemistry – South-East Europe (RSE-SEE10) took place in Prague from September 20 to 24, 2026. The international conference brought together researchers from 24 countries to share their latest findings, exchange ideas, and discuss current developments across a wide range of electrochemical disciplines. The event was organized by four scientists from the Heyrovský Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences: Magdaléna Hromadová, Romana Sokolová, Jiří Ludvík, and Viliam Kolivoška.
This year's conference featured scientific contributions from 97 participants representing 24 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The programme included four plenary lectures delivered by Olivier Buriez (France), Ismael Díez-Pérez (United Kingdom), Rafał Jurczakowski (Poland), and Francesco Paolucci (Italy), alongside eight keynote lectures and 38 oral presentations.
The scientific programme reflected the diversity of modern electrochemistry, covering both fundamental research and practical applications. Topics ranged from experimental and theoretical methods, physical electrochemistry, and electroanalytical chemistry to sensors, organic and environmental electrochemistry, bioelectrochemistry, and biomedical applications.
Particular attention was also given to nanoscale and molecular electrochemistry, electrochemical engineering, corrosion science, and functional materials. Energy conversion and storage technologies, including batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, and electrochemical capacitors, were among the important areas discussed.
Beyond the scientific presentations, the conference provided valuable opportunities for international networking, knowledge exchange, and the development of new research collaborations.
One of the traditional highlights of the event was the ceremonial handover of the travelling electrochemical cell, a symbol that accompanies the conference from one host country to the next. This year, the cell was passed to representatives of Bulgaria, which is expected to host the next edition of the symposium.
